I’m a nominee!

Copy of Untitled

I have been nominated by the lovely Linda @ Rockin The Spectrum for a Sunshine Blogger Award! As a brand new blogger with this only being my fifth post, I am beyond honored. Here’s how it works. I answer Linda’s 11 questions and then I nominate/tag 11 other bloggers to answer 11 of my own questions.

First, I’ll talk about Linda @ Rocking The Spectrum. First of all, I love her blog name. Already, you can tell that it carries uplifting and confident content. I love that there are footer scrolling boxes at the bottom of her page (which make me a little green with envy, I won’t lie), so you can easily keep track of her Twitter and Instagram feeds.

Linda writes about mental health, politics, her life on the spectrum, and participates in collabs and other projects. I highly encourage you to check her out. A favorite post of mine is A Smile For Everyone. It really showcases her personality.

A huge thank you, Linda, for this opportunity! Keep rockin’ the spectrum and that blog of yours!

The Rules:

My nominees:

aesthetic diaries. Isha is a teenager with a blog who shows a lot of promise! I loved her post about Diwali as someone who doesn’t celebrate it. I enjoyed learning about it and seeing all of her beautiful decorations! Her most recent post lists what she believes to be 10 Underrated Justin Bieber Songs which I also liked to read. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Ashleigh Writes. She is a lifestyle blogger you should certainly add to your list as she is added to mine. As someone who bullet journals but who is NOT artsy, I really enjoyed her November Bullet Journal Set Up. I also did thoroughly enjoy her most recent post which is 5 Ways To Spread Kindness, because I am all about spreading love in this world whenever possible. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Bee Money Savvy. As someone who struggles financially, mainly due to my mental illness, this blog is one of my favorites (though I have an irrational fear of bees, so the header makes me a little jittery). Emma’s site is wonderful. I love all of her posts, but I really liked Money Hacks Everyone Needs To Know Today. Her most recent post is titled #FoodBankAdvent – Do Good This Christmas. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Cara’s Corner. First of all, her layout makes me green with envy. It’s just so cute and professional. Second of all, she writes a lot of posts regarding her mental health, which I find very informative and brave. I loved her post titled Identity After Diagnosis and her most recent is A Day in the Life: Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Completely Chelsea. Chelsea is a travel, food, and lifestyle blogger, and boy is she thorough! Her latest post about Toronto,  How to Spend a Weekend in Toronto When It’s Cold Outside, gave so many good ideas and really made me want to go back to Toronto. Another post I really liked of hers, though, that we could all benefit from, is 9 Easy Ways To Deal With Stress And Be A Little Happier. Her blog is excellent. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Len’s Cup of Tea. Len is a lifestyle blogger who writes about very important topics such as her latest, Easy Ways To Live More Sustainably. I really loved her raw and honest blog she wrote recently called 5 Things I wish People Understood About Me/CFS. She was also nominated for two other blogger awards lately because she is just that good. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Life of Emmax. She is another lifestyle blogger who should be on your radar. Despite never hearing of the snacks she mentions in her latest, Eat Real Healthy Snacks, it served as a reminder that the holiday season is upon us and with that comes a LOT of unhealthy food, so it is beneficial to eat healthy whenever you can. Another post of hers I enjoyed An Autumn Night In Guide. Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Molly Catherine. She is a lifestyle and travel blogger I really like! Her latest post showcases books, though (and I’m a total bookworm) about heroic women’s stories that everyone should know. Check out her latest at Strong Women of the World – Four Incredible Stories To Be Inspired By. I hadn’t read the last two books and I look forward to doing so! Another post of hers I really enjoyed was the one right before it about the Cotswold Lavender Farm because it is just so BEAUTIFUL! Make sure you check her out on Twitter.

The Busy Gamer. I had to give my guy Joshua some love here, sorry ladies (or am I?). What brought him to my nomination table today was his most recent post about Gaming With Anxiety, because I can relate to that post so much, but I also enjoyed his post called The Balance which is about the balance between our wants and needs in life. Make sure you check out his Twitter.

The Patchwork Fox. Aside from being a super fun person to interact with on social media, and having really cute cats, she has a great blog, too! I loved her post titled Dealing with Mental Health Services: Advice Based On My Experiences and her most recent is All By Myself: Mental Illness and Living Alone. Make sure you check out her  Twitter.

The Pink Crib. Leilah is a young but incredibly promising lifestyle and fashion blogger. My favorite post of hers, the first one I had read, was the 16 Things I Learned At 16, thinking that I would have been a much more well rounded teenager had I known these things about myself and about life. Her latest posts are interviews, but her latest post with content is How To Use IZEA To Monetize Your Blog. Leilah is only last on my list because I went alphabetically! Make sure you check out her Twitter.

Here are the 11 questions Linda wanted me to answer.

What is the best part of the city you live in?

I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I have two answers here. As a former political science major, a favorite thing about the city I live in is that the state of Minnesota’s government largely operates here in our beautiful capitol building. I am biased, but I have seen (in photos) what the other capitol buildings look like around the country and I think Minnesota’s is one of the most beautiful. It sits atop a hill and is lit up at night; it’s quite a breathtaking sight that I happen to get to drive by on a regular basis.

A second answer is Como Zoo. It’s a free little zoo within walking distance from my apartment. Our weather was so horrible this spring and summer that I didn’t make it there this year, and I’m quite disappointed about that. But as soon as spring hits, I will visit again. For a free zoo, it does not leave me disappointed. They have penguins, puffins, giraffes (that you can feed!), a polar bear, a variety of big cats, etc.

If you could describe the people of your nation in 3 words, what would they be?

I live in the United States of America, so I would use the words resilient, strong, and patriotic.

What is the worst or oddest dream you have had?

Honestly, I have bad dreams on a regular basis. I have two types: actual horrible dreams where loved ones of mine die or I see deceased loved ones again (which makes me sad rather than happy), or they are dreams triggered by my anxiety I must feel as I’m falling asleep. Those dreams usually involve people yelling at me and telling me what a loser I am, more or less. I will mention my favorite dream I’ve ever had, because good dreams for me are much more atypical.

My grandpa, who was my favorite person on this earth, died of Alzheimer’s years ago. I had a dream that my mom and I were with him in his old age, taking him to some sort of old fashioned dance. My grandma, who died before I was born, was going to be there. It was the first time my grandpa had seen her in over 30 years. They reunited and danced together. It was so beautiful. It’s what I hope they’re doing in heaven right now.

What is the best place you’ve ever visited, and why?

I would have to go with New York City on this one. It’s my favorite city on earth. I’ve been there three times; summer of 2010, winter of 2014, and summer of 2015. I’ve always been a big city girl, and Manhattan is the ultimate urban city. As someone who loves American History, Manhattan in particular (and all of the other boroughs too) is full of it. I could visit there on a yearly basis for the rest of my life and still never experience everything. I love the museums, restaurants and parks. I love the sense of pride New Yorkers feel in their city. And I adore the September 11th museum.

I was 16 when the horrific terrorist attacks happened in 2001, so I remember it well. I finally got to visit the museum in 2015 and I think every single American should make it there and walk through it. I couldn’t even properly describe it to you. I will say that I swiftly walked through the last part in tears because I was that overwhelmed. Don’t let that deter you, though – that museum is awesome.

Second place, in terms of the best place I’ve visited, is Washington, DC.

What is your biggest wish for Christmas, and why?

This is going to sound lame, but it’s honest. I want to find someone special. My only brother has and while I’ve had relationships, they’ve all been destined to failure. I’m getting sick of the routine, and am jealous of those who have had it easy.

If you were to announce just one blogging goal for 2019, what would it be?

I would love to win some type of award, or at least be nominated. Especially if the award pertains to mental health. That would mean a lot to me.

Do you have a favorite/lucky number – and do you know why?

I really don’t. I used to say my favorite number was 15 but I had absolutely no reasoning behind it. My favorite numbers are dates that special things have happened: 12/28, 12/19, 11/6, 4/16, etc.

Any place in the world, your choosing, where would you go and why?

Honestly this changes quite a bit. The long and the short of it is I would love to explore absolutely anywhere across an ocean because I have never gotten to travel over one. Because I love sushi so much I would have to say Japan, specifically, Tokyo. Tokyo makes me think of New York City, except on steroids. I can’t imagine how I would feel standing in the middle of all of that beautiful chaos. I also can’t imagine how incredible their sushi must be. I also am aware that Japan has a fox island somewhere. An actual place where you can just walk among hundreds of foxes and even be able to hold baby ones. Sign. Me. Up.

Favorite ice cream flavor?

That sort of depends on the brand. I love Haagan Daas’ chococlate chip cookie dough and mint chocolate chip flavors. My ultimate favorite bowl of ice cream is Sebastian Joe’s (local) Nicollet Pothole, which is chocolate with sea salt. If it’s a flavor I don’t know, I’ll usually just go with plain old chocolate.

How is the weather, right now, at your particular place on the planet, and does it suit you?

I took a picture out of the coffee shop I am currently in this morning. It is gray and cold, my weather app reporting that it is 20 degrees Farenheit. I’m wearing sweatpants, a tshirt, a hat, and a fleece pullover as I’m sitting inside. No, I wouldn’t say this suits me. I don’t mind the winter temperatures as long as it isn’t snowy and icy for driving, but I’d prefer it warmer. My favorite temps are between 45 and 55 degrees Farenheit. But winter is upon Minnesota until about mid March, so I’d better get used to it.

What do you consider to be the hardest part about the SunshineBlogger Awards?

I don’t find any of it difficult! I quite enjoy every part of it, especially searching for my 11 favorite blogs to highlight for my readers!

Congratulations on the award! 🎉 I enjoyed reading your answers, especially your dream about your grandparents. That was a very sweet dream and I’m sure that’s just what they’re doing.
